Ways to give

Memorial & Tribute Gifts

Mark a loss, or a celebration, with something that lasts in another person's life.

How this works

What it involves

People come to us for two quite different reasons on this page, and we try to handle each with the care it deserves.

Some are grieving, and want a funeral collection or a gift in memory of someone who cared about this kind of work. Others are celebrating — a birthday, a wedding, an anniversary — and would rather their friends gave here than bought them something they do not need.

In both cases we will help with the practical arrangements and then get out of the way. What we will not do is use a bereavement as an opportunity to add anyone to a mailing list.

Step by step

  1. Tell us what the occasion is

Contact us and let us know whether this is a memorial gift, a funeral collection or a celebration, and roughly when you need things by.

  2. We provide what you need

For a funeral, collection envelopes and a short printed note about the work. For a celebration, a card explaining the gift, or wording for an invitation or registry.

  3. Choose where the gift goes

Many people choose a ministry area that meant something to the person being remembered or honoured — education, clean water, reconciliation.

  4. Gifts are gathered and acknowledged

We record individual gifts against the occasion, and can tell the family or the person honoured the total received without disclosing individual amounts.

  5. We report on what it achieved

Where a memorial fund reaches a meaningful total we will tell you specifically what it supported.

Questions

Common questions

Can you provide materials for a funeral at short notice?

We will always try. Contact us and tell us the date — if printing and posting is not possible in time, we can send something you can print yourself, or set up a simple collection arrangement.

Will you contact everyone who gives at the funeral?

No. We will acknowledge a gift if someone has given us their details and asked us to, but we do not add people who gave at a funeral to our mailing list. Using a bereavement to build a supporter database is not something we are prepared to do.

Can the family choose where the money goes?

Yes. Many families choose a ministry area connected to the person being remembered. If no designation is made, gifts go to where they are needed most.

Can we ask for gifts instead of wedding presents?

Of course, and it is one of our favourite ways people support this work. Contact us and we will send wording for your invitation or registry, and a card for your guests explaining what their gift supports.

Will you tell us how much was raised?

Yes — we will give you the total received against the occasion. We do not disclose individual amounts to anyone, including the family, because people give at very different levels and that should stay private.
