Church & Community Partnerships

The local church is not our delivery channel — it is our partner

Restoration · Always

Why this matters

Everything we do runs through local churches and community leaders who were there before us and will remain after.

In most of the places we work, there is already a church. It may meet under a tree or in an unfinished building, and it almost certainly has no budget — but it has something no outside organisation can acquire: permanence, trust, and a genuine knowledge of its neighbours.

Our model is built on that. We do not open field offices and run programmes past local congregations. We resource those congregations and their leaders to serve their own communities, and we hold ourselves accountable to them as partners rather than contractors.

It is slower. It also survives our departure.

What we do

The work in detail

Specific activities, delivered by partner churches and community leaders.

Long-term partnership with local churches

Multi-year relationships with congregations who lead the work in their own community, with shared planning, shared reporting and honest review in both directions.

Leadership and pastoral training

Training for pastors and lay leaders in teaching, pastoral care, safeguarding, governance and community engagement.

Organisational capacity building

Practical help with financial systems, record-keeping, policies and reporting so partners can manage funding well and eventually hold it directly.

Mobilising congregations to serve

Helping churches identify needs on their own doorstep and organise their members to respond — often with very little money involved.

Working with community leaders

Engagement with chiefs, elders, head teachers, clinic staff and local officials, including those of other faiths, because a community is wider than its church.

Partnership between churches

Connecting supporting congregations with partner churches for prayer, learning and mutual encouragement — deliberately structured as a two-way relationship.

How we work

Principles specific to this ministry

  • Partners lead; we resource, train and account.
  • Funding never depends on a church adopting our preferences or structures.
  • We serve whole communities, never only church members.
  • Partnership agreements are written, mutual and reviewed openly.

What we look for

The change we are actually after

  • Partner churches plan and run community work with decreasing external input.
  • Leaders are better equipped and less isolated.
  • Communities identify the local church as a source of practical help.
  • Supporting congregations elsewhere are changed by the relationship too.

These are described qualitatively on purpose. No statistics have been invented for this website — verified figures will be published in our annual reporting.
