Pray with us

We pray before we plan

This work is not finally accomplished by our competence. We ask supporters to pray as seriously as they give — and we report the answers back, including when the answer was not what we hoped.

Why prayer comes first

Not a pious add-on to the real work

It would be easy for an organisation like ours to treat prayer as decoration — a paragraph in the newsletter, a moment before a meeting, something that signals which sector we belong to without changing any decisions.

We try to resist that. Prayer comes before planning in our process because we genuinely do not think this work is finally accomplished by our competence, our analysis or our funding.

There is also something practical in it. Sustained prayer for a specific community tends to make you pay attention to that community, and paying attention is the discipline this whole model depends on. Almost nobody who prays seriously for a place for years remains detached from it.

And it runs both ways. Our partners pray for supporters as consistently as supporters pray for them — frequently with more discipline.

Our prayer and discipleship ministry

What the prayer team receives

  • A short prayer update by email, with specific requests from named communities.
  • Occasional urgent requests when a partner asks for prayer immediately.
  • Answers and outcomes reported back, including when the answer was not what we hoped.
  • No fundraising appeals inside prayer updates. They are two different things and we keep them separate.
  • Your details are never shared, sold or passed to any third party.

Urgent right now

Requests our partners have flagged

Updated weekly
  • Parts for broken water points

Several communities are waiting on parts for water points that failed before the dry season. Pray that the parts arrive and that the newly trained committees hold together through the wait.

  • Mothers awaiting delivery

Several mothers in remote communities are approaching delivery with long journeys to the nearest facility. Pray for safe deliveries and for the transport arrangements to hold.

  • Children at risk of not returning to school

A number of children may not return next term because their household cannot meet the costs. Pray for the support to reach them, and for it to be given discreetly.

  • Communities in the storm season

Storm season is approaching for remote coastal and island communities. Pray for preparedness plans to be followed, and for homes, crops and boats to be protected.

  • Young people in neighbourhoods affected by violence

Youth workers are mentoring young people under real pressure to join groups involved in violence. Pray for the mentors' safety and for young people choosing a different path.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
