Ways to give
Workplace & Matched Giving
The single most overlooked way of increasing a gift: ask whether your employer will match it.
How this works
What it involves
A great many employers operate matched giving schemes, and a great many employees have no idea. If yours does, a monthly gift could be worth twice what you are giving, for no extra cost to you.
Payroll giving is the other route. Where it is available, your gift is taken before tax is calculated, which means the relief is applied immediately and automatically rather than reclaimed later.
Both are administratively straightforward from your side and genuinely valuable to us, because payroll gifts in particular are among the most predictable income we receive.
Step by step
Ask your employer what exists
Check with HR or your payroll team whether the organisation offers payroll giving, matched giving, or both. It is worth asking even if you have never heard it mentioned.
Find out the match terms
Schemes vary — some match pound for pound up to a cap, some match a percentage, some match only one-off gifts or only fundraising. Ask what applies.
Request our details
Contact us and we will provide our full legal name and registration details in whatever format your scheme administrator requires.
Set up the gift
Complete your employer's form nominating us as the recipient, or submit the match claim after making your gift.
Let us know
Payroll and match payments often reach us through an intermediary with no donor details attached. Tell us and we can link the gift to you and thank you properly.
Questions
Common questions
How do I find out whether my employer matches gifts?
Ask HR, your payroll team, or look for a corporate social responsibility or community giving page on your intranet. It is genuinely common and genuinely under-used — many schemes are undersubscribed simply because staff do not know they exist.
Will you contact my employer directly?
Only if you ask us to. We are happy to provide documentation, complete due diligence forms or speak to a scheme administrator, but we will not approach your employer without your say-so.
Can my employer support the work in other ways?
Yes — professional skills contributed pro bono, funding a whole programme, or staff briefings and speaker visits. Our partnership page sets out the options.
What happens if I change jobs?
A payroll gift stops when you leave that employer, because it runs through their payroll. Contact us and we will help you continue giving directly, or set it up again at your new workplace.
