Where we serve

East Africa

Rural communities facing drought, displacement and rising food prices

Overview

Our work in East Africa

Across this region our partners work with communities where rainfall has become unreliable and where a single failed season can undo years of careful progress.

Water security, livestock, education access and — in places carrying the legacy of displacement — reconciliation between groups who have been set against one another are the recurring priorities.

The context shaping this work

  • Increasingly erratic rainfall and longer dry seasons.
  • Long distances to the nearest health facility.
  • Communities hosting displaced families alongside their own needs.

Prayer

Pray for East Africa

These requests come from partner communities in this region. Our prayer team receives them as they arrive, including urgent ones.

  • Parts for broken water points

    Urgent

Several communities are waiting on parts for water points that failed before the dry season. Pray that the parts arrive and that the newly trained committees hold together through the wait.

  • Rain in the planting window

Farmers have planted on the strength of the early rains. Pray for rain that continues through the growing season, and not so much that it washes the seed away.

  • A mediation that both families attend

A long-standing land dispute has reached the point where both families have agreed to meet. Pray that both arrive, that the mediators are given wisdom, and that nothing is rushed.

  • For our own honesty

Pray that we would notice our mistakes sooner, name them plainly, and remain the kind of organisation our partners feel safe correcting.

“The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.”

Psalm 24:1
