Where we serve

Southern Africa

Households carrying the weight of care for others

Overview

Our work in Southern Africa

Many households our partners serve are headed by grandmothers or older siblings, caring for children who have lost parents.

Family strengthening, school access and household income are the priorities, alongside food security work in communities where the lean season has grown longer.

The context shaping this work

  • A high proportion of children being raised by relatives.
  • Lengthening lean seasons between harvests.
  • Caregivers who are themselves elderly or unwell.

Prayer

Pray for Southern Africa

These requests come from partner communities in this region. Our prayer team receives them as they arrive, including urgent ones.

Join the prayer team
  • Grandmothers raising grandchildren

Many households are headed by elderly caregivers raising several children. Pray for their strength and health, and for the caregiver groups that keep them from carrying it alone.

  • Children at risk of not returning to school

    Urgent

A number of children may not return next term because their household cannot meet the costs. Pray for the support to reach them, and for it to be given discreetly.

“The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.”

Psalm 24:1
